I have a Savage 110FP in 7mm.
I am looking to get a muzzle brake installed in the Edmonton Area.
Any recommendations on a smith and the muzzle brake itself.
Thanks for looking,
wcmd

Head about an hour south. Get Pud to do it at Bashaw sports. I think muzzlebrakes is one of his specalties. He also does great trigger work.

I install all kinds of brakes for customers all across Canada. Here are a couple of common ones... the top one is flush fit on a large barrel and the middle one can also be ordered for a larger barrel.

The top and bottom are a Shrewd brake I custom fit and the middle one a patented VAIS brake. Both work very well, the VAIS is a bit quieter than others.

The following picture is of a Holland brake 1.1" diameter on a .900" barrel. (.338 Edge)

and this is a picture of the thread and how it is crowned. Before assembling I always put a good anti seize lubricant on the threads to add strength to the thread and stop gases from working back into the thread.

maybe you misread

if you re-read the post he said looking to get installed in the edmonton area.

this would mean anybody with half a brain would welcome the chance to get it done right.

if not stick to the edmonton area, most are a joke i know them all.

send it out west for a few bucks and get it done right.

You are on the Money there 300%, last time I bring my rem700Pss in 300Rum to K&S arms, they FUUCK it up big Royal Time, Robs did my Rifles muzzle break resulting in the bullet hitting the side of the muzzle break resulting in group as big as a Big ASSSHOlle, I end up selling the gun after he fixed, but not after argueing with him to get the work to be done, if you going to bring it to K&S arms and get it done, make sure you talk to Karl and ask him to do it personally, or check robs and see if he is Sober. other wise send it out west and pay a few extra buck and get them to do it, do it right that is!

i agree with gunboy i took my rum in to get a break done and after waiting 2 months longer than the quoted time i went to pick it up and it was blued the wrong colour and all the holes were jaged like they didnt run anything on it after they drilled it. i then took it to ALBERTA TACTICAL and rick got it all flanged up and even got it blued to match the barrel.

I seriously would send it to TimBucToo to get it done properly, buddy of mine had his ruger bolt action done at K&S arms, and I guess Robs was drinking the night before, and result in the gun went off when it put to safety, just emagine if some one got there head blow right off, What a law suit that would be...
I don't know how many time , I went back and pick up the gun because I was waiting month and month for a 15minute jobs, what a waste of times....

I agree. same type of issue, except to redo the work, he argued with me I would have to pay again. I've said it before and will say it again. K&S is the last place I would ever take anything to again. As a matter of fact, I would'nt even bother if it was the last place available...

Send it to a proper gunsmith, like Guntech. Edmonton has many post offices....

I actually sold a gun to a friend with a KS Arms brake installed. He's having grouping issues as well. The brake could be the problem, even though it was done by Karl himself, so I was told.

It's actually Rod we are talking of & has his own ''Coach's corner'' of guns in a renowned firearm/hunting magazine.

He can't be that bad.

what mag was that and which century was it published in

I know Karl but will not take anything there again.

his cohort could not build a Br gun and I put them together in my sleep.

send it to the wet coast (west)

look at the pics, he does nice stuff and I have no axe to grind, just facts

No, I don't think Ron Smith is in Bentley although they do have one of the
best gun smiths there. Ron is in Three Hills unless it's changed recently.??
