EE Restricted purchase transfer w/o club membership

Just give a name of a club you "intend" to join, that worked for me back in the day, times may have changed.

Keep in mind though, you can only take the gun home, cant use it anywhere until you join a club and get a LTATT

They will most likely want to see a copy of your memebership card, I just did a transfer to my brother whose new Into shooting and he told them what club he belonged to but wouldn't approve the transfer until they had a copy of the membership card

I was wondering about this very situation and how it would be handled in AB.

I was trying to coax my brother into the HG fraternity by giving him a 22lr revolver that I wasn't using anymore. He has a restricted endorsement, but his reluctance to get a range membership killed the endeavour. Sounds like the transfer wouldn't have gone through in the first place.

I had a transfer held up some years back due to the AB CFO not having a current copy of my range membership (actually they couldn't find one period, and I know they had one at some point in time).

They claimed that they had been trying to contact me, but I have my doubts about that story.

In Ontario, post Sept. 2, I bought 3 hand guns the new ATT conditions were added to my licence and all three were transferred to me without any club membership. I have since taken them to a couple of ranges and shot them. No membership. I did have to take a club level ATT course to appease the ranges before they'd let me bring restricted weapons in though.

I bought my first restricted last year. Said target shooting as the reason when asked and yes was a member of a club. No proof was asked for on my part by the Ontario CFO office and they didn't call anyone to verify my membership. They gave me the registration number after the transaction as proof of ownership and just had to wait for it to show up at the post office. Quick call and had the ATT to take it home. Paper copy of the ownership showed up a week later after I had it home.
