I just got a ransom rest, to use for working up loads for my 9mm SIG X6. Main concern is 50yd accuracy. When trying different loads in the cold say at about -15c, will the loads accuracy be different at say +20c. If the POI changes thats OK as I can readjust the sights.

Just trying to decide if its worth going to the range in the cold, and if I do if the accuracy results will be valid next season when its warmer?

Theoretically a gun will be more accurate in warm weather than in cold. This is because of the density of air and the resulting forces.

In reality, unless you are really close to limit of stabilization with your bullet/rifle combo, I doubt you would ever see the difference.

I shoot F-class both summer and winter. Since I use a fairly "Temperature Stable" powder, my accuracy does not seem to change summer to winter.

Depending on the powder you are using the summer and winter load may vary in velocity, P.O.I. and accuracy. Some powders are less sensitive to temp changes than others.

Once you change the velocity, your accuracy and POI will most likely change.

You may have to bump your load slightly to keep the velocity the same as your summer load. As long as your velocities match, your accuracy should not be affected at all.

Ive got some VV320,340 &350 that Im going to work with...probly some 231,wsf and Bullseye as well.

Velocities that I work with on these loads are usually in the 850 to about 1000fps depending on the particular recipet Im using

I am assuming that if your powder is "temperature stable" your accuracy might even be better in the cold.
1. Warm : Particules are closer put together and are moving more
2. Warm and humid : Particules closer, moving more and humidy is water particules in the air.
3. Cold : Particules are further away and moving less.

So in theory, your bullet and accuracy should go further and be better.
