I'm thinking of mounting a Limbsaver pad on my Tikka M695 .338WM. It's rather difficult these days to find one in Calgary. So I went on-line and checked out Sims and Cabella's web site. The slip on pad has my interest as I could just buy one, and switch it from my .338WM to my .270WSM as the need arises. A salesman told me that I can expect recoil reduction of 40-50% with these pads. I'd sure like to hear from those of you in regards to your thoughts on that claim. Are they really that good?

I have one on a .308 and it recoils like a .243. Had one on a .300WM, recoiled like a standard cartridge. 50% for sure:cool: If you can't find one, PM "gunsrocky", that's where I got mine.

An excellent product for sure, I plan on fitting them to half a dozen or so of my rifles and shotguns. I had a SxS in for some repairs that had one on it and I was so impressed while test firing I let both barrels go at once - I hardly felt a thing!

Gitterdun,
you might get a 40% subjective reduction over no pad, but you won't get a 40% reduction over any pad. Make sense? I've got one on my .416, it took alot of sting out, but it sure never cut it in half. If it did that the recoil should be the same as my .375 and it isn't. A pad also doesn't stop your head from flying around. A headache will stop me faster than a sore shoulder.

i give it a two thumbs up!
I'm use to a regular 300 winchester mag with no recoil pad, so when i bought my 300 winchester with a Simms Limbsaver man what a diffrence! I use to be able to shoot 7 or 8 rounds and have a brused shoulder but with the limbsaver i can shoot 20-40 rounds with out even feeling pain!!!

Have a Limbsaver on my Winchester Defender. Not really sure how to compare it but I can tell ya that I'm not overly excited about the Idea of shooting slugs without it  :runaway:

Wow, awesome feedback, the kinda stuff that Sims wants to hear I'm sure. Now if I could only find one in Calgary. It's either wait until Wholesale gets their warehouse in order or bring one in from Cabella's. I suppose I could wait or maybe try Wholesale in Lethbridge or Edmonton. What about that shop in Red Deer, does anyone have a name and phone number?

Picked up a grind to fit Limbsaver pad at the Swift Current gunshow to put on my O/U I got from TradeEx. Turned out good, although it cost quite a bit after having to buy a $135 bench model belt sander to make it fit
It made a big difference on the gun. When I first got the gun the first thing I noticed was how it kicked fairly hard, now I hardly notice it. I'd guesstimate a 25% reduction in recoil.

I shoot 7 mm mag and The Grind to fit model worked on my old gun. Went from punishing myself to to fire off a few groups to easily fire 30 rnds in one trip to the range and still had no problems!!! A++!!!

We use a lot of Kick Eez pads as they are easy to grind to a presentable job whereas the Limb Saver is not. We supply many (1000's) for 338 and 50's. Seem to do an excellent job.
