Ported, removable choke...

Very disappointed in the 'camo' job. Right off the bat noticed 3 separate chips in the paint on the pump arm and stock, visible black plastic underneath. The digital camo is only a novelty, both camo'ed pieces have a cheap plastic feel. The Pump arm will be the first to go  Compared to the Hogue on my previous 870 Tac it's like greased sausage.

The Action is good though. So basically, all Remington did was paint a 870 Express OD Green, thread and attach fancy choke on barrel, find a half assed pump arm and stock from Tiger Stripes Product, print the word Tactical on the receiver then BAM!... mark the price up a few hundred dollars and we have a new product for '08. Woohoo!

I've Yet to shoot it but know what to expect from an Express action, colour aside. Consumer report: not worth the price tag.

Yup I agree, I bought one a few months ago on a whim. The camo on the stock is chipping, same with the barrel and reciever. Been a decent shooter though, used it for grouse. I'm happy with it but wouldnt buy one again.

Is the barrel and reciever painted? According to Remington, they're powdercoated. How does the stock and forend compare to Speedfeed?

Yes, wagthedog, both barrel and receiver are painted OD Green and does appear to have a powdercoat feel. Even the front bead sight was painted over and should be a PITA if ever I want to remove it.

The stock is a Speed Feed stock. The +2 shell holder on the right side of my model's stock, however, has a warped lip and will only hold 1 shell. A hammer and some luck might fix that.
