What guns are we talking about here? Is this an IPSC question?
On one hand, you want to comp, I assume, a 9mm (?) for lesser recoil and quicker follow up shots. And stay in Minor?
On the other, you want to swap in .40 barrels for snappier recoil? And go to Major?

No IPSC, yet. More of a project/just because/why not thing.
I have a Glock 34, Beretta 92A1 and a SIG 226. All 9mm. My Remmy 1911 .45 already has a threaded barrel, just need a comp for it.
The 9mils, yes, to reduce the snap to stay on target a bit better.

Getting the .40 kits just to have the extra punch.
Of course I'm also interested in the .22 kits for cheaper plinking so I could go either way.
Of course if Freedom 6/49 ever comes through I'll just get everything.

.40 adds cost/ shot, unless you plan on reloading, for not much gain.
Since you already have 3 9mm, why not comp either the SIG or Glock? I’ve not seen a threaded barrel for a 92 ( doesn’t mean they don’t exist, just that I’ve not seen one other than in pure competition guns). Or just port the 34 for similar results.

Comps work better with hot loads, that you'd find in IPSC Major scoring, (as long as your gun can safely handle that). It might help a tiny bit for 9mm factory loads, but it's better to just learn how to shoot. Careful with your mods though, and read the IPSC rules first. That way you won't end up converting all your guns to the Open division, where you'll get your ass kicked.
