I broke in the gun and shot 2 500 boxes of winchester high velocity rounds and kept having none stop issues where the shell would not fully eject and get pinched by the bolt. So I decided to try different ammo, remington thunderbolts (non hollow point) and yellow jackets(hollow point) both were not ejecting well. I then ran into another issue where the round was not chambering well rather then being put into the barrel it was being smooshed against the bottom of the barrel.

What can I do to fix these issues, I have a new ejector volkansomething on order, and I do not want to resort to shooting CCI mini's since its near impossible for me to find them (tried le baron and bass pro and some other places with no luck). Could I possibly sand a little up ramp in the bottom of the barrel to make it a smoother entrance into the barrel then the 90 degree edge?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

I purchased a new 10/22 this past march and I've put about 1000 rounds through it as well. I only use CCI Blazer 40 gr round nose ammunition, because I feel it is about the best bulk .22 ammo out there.

From what I have observed, the proper opperation of semi auto .22's is half ammo related, because it is a blow back action, and half cleaning related. The cleaning I mean is that of the action and chamber, not the barrel. To trouble shoot, I would first suggest cleaning these two areas and then trying different brands of ammo. It is true that what one .22 auto likes, will not be the same as another.

Another reason why ammunition is so suspect, besides the velocity and consistency they produce, is how clean or well they burn and how much carbon build up there is blowing back out of the chamber. I have personally found a lot less fowling build up in the action and chamber from the Blazer when compared to 36gr federal hollow point bulk?

Hope this advice helps, I would not attempt to alter metal surfaces until these two variables are set out. Also, what weight of bullets are you using and from what magazines?

Remington .22 ammo is some of, if not, the dirtiest ammo that you can shoot through a .22...

Like LG said, clean it really good and see if you can change up the ammo more. As for the round hitting the bottom of the barrel, I see that as more of a mag and follower issue. Probably isnt seating the round properly.

I had an extraction problem with my barrel when i got it, i polished the chamber and no more problems.
also make sure the barrel is in the v-block properly, if it isn;t square to the extractor that could be a problem.
as far as the stove piping, are you using 25 or 30round mags? does it happen with the factory 10round mag?

OK I have a lot to cover here, I clean my gun thoroughly after every 500 rounds through it so it is not the cleanliness issue. I was using both the hot lips and steel lips magazine, the 10 round had jamming but not as frequent as both 25's but it still occurred enough. The V-block is in place perfectly I have not removed it once yet (pretty much because the gun is brand new) and it is sitting perfectly in place.

Damn trouble shooting is starting to get annoying haha

perhaps you should focus on the factory magazine until you get the problems ironed out.

it is possible to clean and re-tension the factory rotary mags. i would start there for your feeding problem, perhaps the mags are a little gummed up, or were set up a little weak. there is a great how-to over at RFC.

as for the cycling/stovepiping issues, you said you had a new extractor on the way, that will likely help. while you have the action torn down, check for any excessively rough parts, the guide rod will be the most critical to smooth operation. there is probably some gunk built up on the bolt face, and around the extractor slot in the bolt, clean it up.

keep us posted, and we'll help you get your gun in top shape.

Just out of curiousity...it looks like you also have a target model 10/22 in your sig line. Have you tried the magazines that you are using on your standard 10/22 that you're having problems with in the target model 10/22? And if you have tried them, do they also have problems with the other gun or not?

I havent shot the target 10/22 yet because the ejector is not grabbing the shells at all, it is worn down to much so I am waiting on two new ejectors. But I have tried all the magazines from both guns on the standard 10/22 and my problems keep occurring.

Yeah it seems the 1022 is one crazy but popular problem.

I get the odd failure to eject and get it gets pinched up. Kinda sad that fixing that problem has almost become second nature to me, can do it with my eyes closed.

I have a weird problem now too, the stock mag will chamber the first round, fire fine, then cycle but not load the second round, have to manually cycle the bolt to get the round in but the rest of the rounds in the mag cycle fine.

However a lot of gunk builds up on the bolt face under the extractor and in the extractor pin area also where the extractor sits in the barrel. Give that a good cleaning every now and then.

not sure how much this will help your cause but you may want to load up your mags and leave them overnight to "stretch" out the coil sping. also in my 25 round mags i only load 24 in them the first one always seems to stove pipe my next round. i'm happy with a 24 round mag.
also once you get the new extractors and if they don't work try this... http://rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251031
it will reduce the drag of the bolt across the hammer for much easier cycling.
