Yep. The Remington Model 8 (aka Remington Autoloading Rifle) had a spring loaded plunger ejector in 1905. FWIW, Browning also created the double hook trigger set up used in the Garand (along with the RSC 1917 and probably others).Browning plunger ejector was earlier than Garand's design.
