So I took my Remington/Bakil Spartan 310 ( http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=71 ) out this weekend to break it in. Short story, I LOVE IT! I was breaking clays from first shot down to my last (missed a few in the middle ;p ).

I had it set to eject the shells as I was at the family ranch and didn't care that I had to pick em up. It was working smooth until about 90-100 shots in that the top barrel ejector wasn't ejecting them. The lower was still kicking them past me by 15feet or so.

I just assumed it had been getting dirty and just needed to be cleaned, so I accepted it just extracting them for the time being. I got it home took it all apart and cleaned and lubed (lightly) it. I put in some dummy rounds pulled the trigger, but yet still only the bottom barrel is ejecting them.


Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not familiar with that model.

The trip mechanism is usually in the forearm assembly. You might be able to compare one side with the other to see what is or is not happening.

Will do, just gotta wait till later tonight when I have time and decent light for a picture of that detail.
 
You might need to remove the wood to see, maybe not. Try to remove the forend after one barrel has ejected, but before the parts are re-cocked. that might show the parts in two different positions.

Thanks. I took apart the fore-end and checked the works in action sans wood, but nothing seemed to be different. Then it started working though... who knows maybe just a piece of grit or grime in there got shook loose when the fore-end was disassembled. Both barrels are popping weighted dummies a good 8 feet over my shoulder now...
 
You have a good shotgun there. The ejectors on Baikals are worked by powerful springs....I have a 28ga SxS that ejects, let me rephrase - hurls solid aluminum snap caps 10 feet behind me.

Please ensure that the parts where the receiver mates with the barrels/forend iron, other high friction areas etc have a clean smear of grease applied at all times. Bear in mind to always replace the old grease from all those areas during cleaning sessions as dirty grease could potentially act as an abrasive (not quickly but in the long run) when combined with dirt/debris accumulated overtime. Just take care to also not allow the grease to get into the boxlock.
