Is it normal for there to be play in the rear when pulled up lightly?
as well movement side to side as a slight wobble?
it is a 1993 production?

any help would be great.

It was not uncommon from my limited experience and is not a "good" thing. Optics are excellent ... mount was not... but I understand that it has been improved .....

I've got one of the newer ones and it doesn't have *any* play. That's not to say it wouldn't develop it if I beat it up... and yes, an ACOG is bulletproof.

I think it's repairable, you can get a retrofit mount fix somewhere for them, but I'm not sure just where that is. Someone else might speak up?

Ask KevinB he'll tell you where to send it to get fixed:D

The Elcan is a decent enough optic for civilian range use, and service rifle events.
If you are planning on going into combat, or need the best to pose in your parent's basement, then by all means pay double plus the money for an ACOG.

I really like the Elcan at the range. I also really like my Acog. Since neither of them will be used in battle, it really isn't a problem for me. :)

My Elcan has no movement in the mount either.

Gen 2 or 4 base?, I know all the Gen 1/2 I've played with has play in the mount, up and down. I know the Gen 4 I played with has no play in it....
