I recently purchased a really nice specter dr 1.5-6 from a member here on ee, wasnt until i got home i noticed it was damaged, very slight bump on the very tip on the top of the scope at the very end , basically my situation is this, it came with an ARD but it wont screw on because the scope frame around the lens is not a complete perfect circle, is this an easy/ cheap fix or even possible, it doesn't bother me because i would probably never use the ard, im thinking for possible resale value down the road.

Yes definitely the housing its bent down very slightly, but enough to interfere with the threads for the ard. Il probably just live with it. I can't really think of a non damaging way to grab that lip and bend it back up... plus im not sure i want to chance damaging the glass or the seal.

You need to machine a matching section of male thread (or cut a quarter section out of a sunshade and reinforce it with a pile of Devcon) then using padded channel locks press it into the dent. We have done it to and saved a number of scopes at work.

Id strongly recommend just leaving,,chances are things will get worse banging and prying on an optic.. You'd hate to get a scratch on the glass.

Cheers!!

I think im going to do this,.. other than not being able to use an ard its in nice shape. And i really can't see needing one, just bugs me paying over 2k and coming with an ard and i can't use it.

your looking at at least $500 to get a new housing installed, id talk to the seller, its not some cheap bushnel
that is a classic , my rifle fell over and landed on the scope, mark. :(

If I am reading correctly, you paid pretty much full price for a bent scope - I'd be talking to the "nice guy" that sold it to you. Not cool.

I picked it up in person, was in a bit of a rush and had a quick once over,... even looking right at it its very very hard to see, he did tell me the ard was hard to go on... but it actually doesn't even go on, but i didn't bother trying when i was there. Almost feel its a bit of my responsibility for not noticing and leaving with it.

Well almost a month and 3 emails and have not heard back from elcan. .. i know they are more government and military but a little customer service would be nice. I don't think i will bother with them. I think il just use it as is, accept my loss and not use an ard. If i don't end up liking it il just sell it at a discount and buy another eotech for close range and a variable power scope for long range , both with quick detach mounts and switch back and forth. I mounted the specter on my Benelli m4 just to try it and sometimes the cross hairs are fuzzy and there is no way to focus it. But i have read that is a common problem dues to some people's eyesight.
