Anybody who has this scope, does it really hold zero when you remove it and replace on the same spot? I am planning on getting one, but am not sure how well it holds zero. I will have to keep removing and replacing it to alternate between the iron sights and the red dot for standard and open class competitions.

I'm also interested in the Elcan SpectreDR--have irons for the moment, but when I upgrade to optics, strongly considering the Elcan...

Yup it hols up pretty good. Had one on a sl8 - took it on and off quite a bit but after about 200 rounds it had to be adjusted a bit. Then at 800 rnds the arms mount started moving a bit forward and back then at about the 1000 round mark the arms mount s*it itself and was fairly loose. After fixing it was solid and the optic was still zeroed. So in a nutshell the optic is rock solid but the arms are the weak spot. At its worst it was off about 2 inches at 100.

I was going to post when this thread first popped up, but thought I would wait to give my sight a better trial...

I have seen this topic come up several times, and I think the reason some people have concerns is due to a few problem mounts on previous versions of the sight.

I have the latest version on a tavor which bounces around in my truck every day. It also gets removed and replaced frequently since I seem to do a lot of 'show & tell' with the rifle. It is still holding exactly where I sighted it in. In my opinion it is the best short range sight ever made.

Give me some decent weather, and I will get back to you. Put one on a XCR and will try it .

Decent....weather....?

This bit of kit should be reviewed in the crap with the operator's teeth chattering and his breath fogging up his goggles, or the water splashing back up off the ground onto the rifle and onto the optic. That way you can actually get right into checking the optic's capabilities in the less than optimal weather, including zero... Just remember to engage the lock after zeroing.

Of course, I'm one of those idiots who trains in whatever weather comes with me to the range...
