It is not legal to use these for hunting in Alberta. What about where you are? Do you use them. I believe there will be a request from AF&GA to legalize it for Snow geese and Wolf, coyote and fox.

Arent half the FoxPro owners on this board from B.C

ya he wasnt thinking about predator hunting. he was thinking as in big game like Deer, moose etc

he didn't think of coyotes or anything as he's never hunted predators before or have any desire to do so, so when he said he doesn't think you can use them for hunting he just means deer and stuff.

hope that clears that one up for ya.;)

That's a fairly new change to the laws - last few years i believe. I'm sure lots of bc'ers still think it's illegal, but it's legal for predators except bear.

GTH is correct, I have also "heard" a possible change in the future to allow electronic calls for Canada goose due to the huge populations. I'm guessing that won't happen, but you never know.

It is legal to use callers here in Ontario as was mentioned in an earlier post but I have experienced poor success. I won't name brands so as to be fair but a friend had one a few years ago and after over two dozen stands, nothing. Recently, my hunting partner and I produced a predator hunting video in which 11 hunts are East (ON) and 11 are West (SK). For example, on one of our eastern hunts, we called for over 30 minutes with an e-caller. Nothing. Waited ten more minutes and then I started squalling on my Sceery jackrabbit. In 5 minutes, we had a dead fox on the ground. On the other hand, on one of our on-camera hunts in SK, we drew in 4 coyotes to a homemade caller and killed two. Other hunts in East and West bore similar results. So IMHO, electronic callers work better in West than East. Hardly a scientific conclusion though. BTW If you'd like to see the footage, see my user name :)
