I saw an electronic deer call at Walmart this week. Are they legal to use to lure deer during hunting season. I don't see anything in the Ontario hunting regulations against it. Can you also bait your area with apples, and those crystals they sell at Canadian Tire.

baiting has to be done all year long. you just can't bait during hunting season.

I asked about this in this forum just a little while ago because I couldn't find anything in either the Ontario Hunting Regulations or in the Ontario Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act that gave any insight. Do you have a source for this info???? Thanks.

You can bait in Ontario and electronic calls are fine for deer and varmints but not waterfowl or turkey. The only baiting we have ever done is to increase the number of apples around the apple trees to keep the deer coming back later into the year. A pile of apples just dumped by your stand is legal but it probably won't do too much unless that pile is there for a month or so before the hunt and is maintained.

Ahh - I see what he meant now... A neighbour of mine uses apples for bait and starts putting them out in an old field about a month ahead of the start of the season. It's worked for him.
