So, I have pretty much had enough of my plugs, they hurt my ears, don't work well in cold weather, etc, etc.

Does anyone know where to find a modestly priced pair of electronic ear muffs. I would like to keep the landed cost under $80, if possible.

Thanks

I have not used them, so I can not say if they are good enough.

WSS and Cabela's in Winnipeg should be able to meet the need. I bought mine last year at WSS only to find they were cheaper at Cabela's. I think I paid around $40.00 for them.

the princess auto ones for $30 are frankly a best buy item.... buy 2 pair, not just one :)

I use peltor tacpro's and they are awesome....

 I hope so for that price, perhaps one day, for now I think I need the budget kind. ;)

"princess auto ones for $30" thats an easy decision, just ordered some online

I've used Peltors for Work (Gas compression) and Shooting, and they've been good to me, and the price was decent.

Started using ProEars with the volume control, which were absolutely awesome and provided even higher DB reduction than my Peltors did. But they come at a Price $.

On the other hand, I equate Ear Protection like motorbike safety gear... too many people buy a $10k+ Bike, and cheap out on the Helmet the same way people will drop $1500 on an AR, then run the disposable foam earplugs as their only hearing protection.

i bought my Peltor TAC6 from boss safety online because they offered the behind the head band. the shipping was quick and i paid $4 in duties. the unit that was shipped to me however, was defective. i had to ship it to 3M Canada to get it repaired under warranty.

Just purchased Pro-Ears Slim (NRR28) from GP Tactical (Canada and CGN sponsor). Not cheap (neither are my ears), but fairly priced in comparison to US purchasing.

In my case since I need to see and hear very well for my hobbies, I wanted to be well protected and wanted reliability. Hopefully I will be getting both with the Pro-Ears.

I have a Princess Auto set. They work well. The only problem I have noticed is that sometimes the ear pieces become disengaged from the head band. The other drawback is you can only wear them with the head band over the top of your head. No swivel on the ear pieces to allow you to wear them around the back of your head.

the problem i find with a lot of the electronic muffs is the cup is to small. the second last ones i bought were peltors and they hurt my ears. i finally bit the bullet and bought myself another pair of Dillon's. i am glad i did.

I am taking my third pair back to the store in three days. This time I am just getting my money back. I know some people say they are ok but after three tries and seeing how easy they rip, and how they have to be adjusted constantly to work right I give up.

I have both Princess Auto and Dillon muffs. I do wear ear plugs as well as the muffs.

The PA muffs are bulky and heavy, but a whole lot cheaper.

Dillon muffs, slim, compact in comparison. If you are shooting a long match, ie) IPSC provincials, and have the muffs on most a day, I would buy the Dillons. If you only use them for 10 or 20 rounds of rifle shooting, then the PA's are fine.

If you can only afford PA's buy them. Protecting your hearing is the most important part of this whole thread, IMO.

Cheap Caldwell's at Cabelas in Winnipeg work okay.

$29.00 at Cabela's in Winnipeg.

They protect 100%. Sometimes I'm not sure if they allow me to hear more than I would with regular ear muffs however.

They will do for now.
