For a Remington 700 heavy barrel in .308, which of these scopes would you choose in terms of:

1) Quality / ruggedness
2) Eye relief
3) Clarity

I was set on a 4200 but have now been doing a bit more thinking. Thanks guys.

do these have target knobs?and what is the click value of them?

just looked up the VX-II 6-18x40mm Adj. Obj. Target nice looking scope

"The least expensive shipping options to Canada are UPS Standard to Canada and USPS Global Priority Mail, but please see UPS Rates for Customs Clearance into Canada."

I'd push them to use USPS... UPS will charge you $30 to clear customs.

A good Question

Seem like good deals HKfan, do they ship to Canada?

The deal seems "too good to be true"

Their policy page says they won't ship scopes internationally... has anyone tried to order from them?

Here's what they said...

Hi,

I e-mailed them and asked if they ship to Canada...

"Thank you for your interest in our products. We do apologize, however, at this time export of any riflescopes and weapon sights outside of the United States is restricted to US Military and other agencies of federal goverment. Due to very heavy export restrictions, items such as riflescopes, red dot sights, laser sights, and other related weapon components cannot be shipped overseas to any country. For more information on our international policy, please refer to the following site http://www.opticsplanet.n

Sucks

How much ruggedness do you NEED anyway? This is a heavy gun, and it's only a 308. Ditto for eye relief.

If it were ME, I wouldn't get either, I'd go for something with mildots and a side-adjust AO - like the Leupold Mk4's or some of the VX-3 series. Bushnell is also now making a side-AO 4200. A 30mm tube would also be a nice-to-have.

But that's just me

Elite or Leupold

Leupold all the way. Lifetime warranty. Repaired in Alberta if damaged. I see Leupold Vari XII and Vari XIII scopes for sale on Gunnutz all of the time. I have 6.5 x 20 Vari XIII with target turrents on all of my target guns. If you get a good buy on a scope without target turrents, thay can be installed for $160 ( at least that was what it cost me two years ago ).

I have 2 of the VX-II 6-18X. One with target knobs and a target dot for knocking over steel chickens and punching paper on a silhouette gun. Incredible, I can't imagine life without one.
The other one is on a .7 HMR for hunting with reguar turrets and a fine plex reticle. Awesome.
IMHO you have 2 choices...
Leupold or Leuplod

Speaking of which, what's the difference between target knobs and "non" target knobs?
