So I bought a tikka t3 lite this week in 300 wm. Yesterday I got an elite 4200 3-9x40 to go on top.

I'm a little nervous now because I have read from some guys that the eye relief on the 4200 is short. With the recoil of the 300 wm and the supposed short eye relief of the 4200 have I set myself up for some scope bite?

Comments on similar setups and experiences with the 4200's eye relief would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You'll be fine. I believe the eye relief is 3.6-4.0" so that is comparable to most other scopes on the market. I had a 3200 3-9x40 bushnell and on my .300WM savage 116, I had no problems. As with any "magnum" you should hold a rather firm grip anyhow, and don't "limp shoulder" the damn thing. Shoot it like you own it!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure is 4200? or 3200?
Eye relief on 4200 scopes, from what I remember is constant at 3.5".
You need to learn how to shoot with shorter eye relief, I did that on
my .300RUM no problem.

Good Luck

you will be fine! i run an elite on my tikka t3 lite .338WM and have never once scoped my self or had any one else do it either and i load some pretty heavy loads for it

Well I gave it a try. The scope is great and I have no worries about scope bite. I am a little concerned with the recoil so I'm going to get a limbsaver put on it. Half a box to sight it in and my shoulder was pretty sore.

Thanks for the advice.
