The Elite scopes are ..alright, but I am not impressed with their huge reticles that obliterate too much of the tiny targets I shoot at, they also lack reticles specifically for target shooting, and I find them to be mediocre for contrast and clarity.
Sightron, Leupold and Nightforce are far better scopes in my mind.
I have a NXS 5.5-22x56 and a 6500 4.5-30x50. There is nothing wrong with the optics on the 6500 as long as you stay below 20x. Once you creep over 20x the optics get very poor fast. The mechanicals on the 6500 are very repeatable....just as repeatable as my NXS. The 6500 clicks aren't as pronounced as the NXS but that really doesn't matter for the average shooter. So, in a nut shell, the optics between my NXS and 6500 are similar and so is the repeatability of the adjustments....not too shabby for a scope that costs roughly a $1000 less then the NF. The only down side to the 6500 is the lack of elevation adjustment. On a 308 you will need a 20 moa base to hit a target at 1000 yards....keep that in mind.
I bought one of these scopes for a really good price. The clarity is not up to par with my similar powered 4200 and the turrets are pretty stiff. The clicks on my 2 6500's are very repeatable where as the 4200's have backlash that takes some getting used to. A Leupold 10moa base and Burris Signature rings eliminate any short comings in elevation adjustment on my rig. I think the 6500 is a really sharp looking scope too. I'm happy with the scope for what I paid for it but would have been a little disappointed if I paid full price, tax and shipping...JMHOElite 6500 tactical 4.5x30
