Hey Guys

Just looking for idea's Ive been 999 my Bull elk for years and I'm finally Prioirity 9 just wondering where you guys think i should check out for putting my bull draw for next year. I have hear good thing about sufield or maybe Blackfoot.

What do you think guys thanks

I get my Bull Elk just about every year but never apply for a draw. There are many places in Alberta that you can hunt 3 point or 6 point with a general tag. Waiting 8 or 9 years is just silly and you're cutting yourself short. Go to the foothills, anything north of the 52nd parallel will find Elk. Don't waste your time and effort with the draw crap unless you have private property where you can hunt them.

If you have 9 priority points you should be able to hunt in the Calgary Zoo even. I hunted Blackfoot and got a good elk but took 8 days and cold weather to get them to leave the park.

Thanks Guys I've hunted lots on the foot hills and shot a few good bulls with Bow I 999 my elk tag every year so I'm ready to hunt that big bruin whenever i want. I think suffield is where i will head only problem its about 11hrs from my house so scouting is pretty tough if we head down ill be going for 2 weeks with the camper. I also have heard of some good bulls taken in Camp Wainwright but thats a crap shoot in there...

FYI you can not actually hunt in suffield.

The surrounding area.... Lots of antelope and mulies but I have never seen any elk off the base.

I realize you can't in the base the draw for elk is for all the zones that boarder the base. There have been some monsters bull shot outside of the base its just a matter of finding them and getting permission.

Yah I hunted wainwright a few years back and we found way to much vehicle pressure for the elk they were hopping the fence. I'm thinking either blackfoot or suffield is where ill be drawing

I'm jealous. I've been chasing elk for 13 years now, and have yet to find a legal bull on a general tag. Of course, I got into hunting on my own, with no family that hunted, so finding places that held elk was always a crap shoot. I feel like I'm just finally now starting to find some reasonable areas to find elk on a general tag. I'm starting to realize that you have to head quite a bit north or south of the city centers to have a reasonable chance at filling a general tag. I guess the next thing I'll try is heading north of the 52nd, like you say, and then west to the foothills.

Lots of elk west of Nanton.Watch for the signs that say hunting with permission and phone them and you can see elk.I used to hunt on the south side of the Dukes land and if you get in there early and catch them before they cross the fence you will see bulls.
