Just for s**ts and giggles we went out and called some elk. This guy came in and didn't leave for 10 minutes. A great thrill for my son and I. First time he had done any calling and brought the bull within 70 yards of us. Sorry no shooting. These elk were introduced here 10 or 15 years ago and still no season on them YET. Smokey

Lionhill: I don't have photoshop, but if it were me I'd aim at a spot in line with the inside of the elk's right front leg, 1/3 of the way up from the bottom.

Ideally I'd go just on the left edge of that red dot (my left). Quartering-to shots are a bit tricky. You will want a good bullet to punch through all that bone and make it into the vitals in a fairly straight line, probably not a good place for a 150 grain Ballistic Tip out of a 270 or 7mm :)

then you reef on the trigger of your 30-378 Wby and put it just inside the rear leg, 'cause you need a magnum for elk hunting :D

Yep, Just on the left edge of that dot with a good bullet that I was sure would get in even if I clipped the bone on the way in. That means a Partition, TSX, Trophy bonded, A-frame, etc. Then I would be busy for a while, cleaning and packing!! Regards, Eagleye.
