Elusive new Ruger American

Trying to find a dealer that stocks the Ruger American is one thing, but trying to find one in the new 22-250 chambering is like trying to find a sane person at an anti-gun rally!!!!

Took me a few months to find a .243.Demand for the short actions far outpaced production.Ended up getting mine at Lebaron.

No store in my area has any of them. A friend has had one on order from a local store for four months so far.

I read good reports about the Ruger American so they are probably being snapped up before they even get to our border.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried calling LeBaron but the girl said that she wouldn't waste my time putting me on hold. Apparently the gun room is an absolute zoo today.

Paid 399 when it came out... I think now the list for 429.

Canadian tire Eh? Who'da thunk it! At least there's a glimmer of light. If I can get the car running reliably tomorrow I might cook on over to Stratford. I think that's the closest CT store in S.Ont that stocks guns. I'm surprised that Brantford doesn't yet. That's smack dab in the middle of good hunting and farmland.

I see they've announced 2 new 6 lb compact versions with 18"bls in .243 and 7mm-08.I wonder what kind of performance you'd get from an 18" barrel.The .22-250 has 1 in 10 twist.Does this mean the heavier bullets won't shoot as well?

Interesting twist you've posed for me. I'm used to reloading 22-250 for a 1 in 14 twist. Hmmmm....gots me a wee tad 'o reading to do!

No this means it will shoot the heavier bullets better, but may make lighter bullets fly apart in mid air. I don't know exactly what grain works as I don't reload for 22-250, but If you had your heart set on 40 gr thin jacket bullets going 4200 fps it would probably be a bad idea.
