Yes, I have made a few that will hold 5 on one side and 2 on the other. Just mark it where 5 rounds will fit in, and cut a strip along the side about 3mm thick. Then use some needle nose pliers to bend it in a bit to hold the rounds.
You don't need a 5 round clip in Ontario. The M1 is specifically exempt from the mag capacity law. The MNR follows the FA/CC for hunting. However, Gunparts sells 2/5 round clips for $5.20 US each, 2 rounder's for $4.80US(actually holds 4) and 5 rounders for $5.80US. Usually easier to buy 'em than cut up a regular clip.
