You did nothing wrong and a non-restricted in a locked vehicle without a trigger lock is all legal. Why he was allowed to search your truck is now the question. As long as you are not hunting with it there is no reason for the plug. I would personally have got his name and office and made sure his superiors knew of this violation of your rights!
