Picking up my first sporter enfield today a 1943 bsa no4 mk1 2 groove, always wanted an enfield so Im new at these. Maybe a dumb question but will all no4 wood from savage fit a brit make or longbranch without having ro modify?

All No.4 mk1 wood is pretty much the same. Just note that Mk1 and MK2 fore ends are different.

Are you referring to unissued wood? if so the stocks have extra material and will need to be properly trimmed and fit to the rifle.

May need a slight modification to the Savage wood to fit the No 4 Mk 1 BSA- at the point where the push-button for the bolthead release goes down, you may need to relieve it underneath. Most Savage No 4 were Mk 1* - and the wood was not machined out at that point. I had a sporter that I couldn't get the button to depress- once I took off the fore-end, the button moved easily, and the wood had a mark where the bottom of the button was coming up hard on the wood.

Long Branch buttstocks have an extra lobe on the socket area that means they don't readily go into Brit rifles.

I might have this turned around a bit but recall something like this. Not entirely sure because....I only bother with Long Branches...

It is best to try to find the right Brit wood bits for a Brit rifle and LB for an LB rifle. Worth more that way.

I didn't even think about this. Good to know, I learned something.

Thank you gentlemen ask and you shall recieve! This why I love CGN, I figured un issued savage pieces would require a little fitting.
Elwood epps lists a mix n match set any idea if this is worth it, or is there anyone else in canada known to have any parts "in stock"..excluding marstar

I was surfing on Tradex the other day and they have a surprising amount of stock pieces, great prices too. Not sure if you'll find EVERYTHING you'll need, but a portion at least and I've heard nothing but good things about them
