Are the barrel bands on a Lee enfield No4 Mk 1/2 different from a No4 Mk2? I have an Enfield marked No 4 mk1/2 and have fitted Mk2 wood to it. I can't seem to get the barrel bands to meet close enough to get the screws in. Anyone have some advice?

Wood swollen a bit, perhaps? A No. 4 Mk 1/2 is a Mk I that was upgraded to Mk 2 standard. Trigger is on the receiver instead of the trigger guard. Same rifle otherwise. You sure the band is for a No. 4?

Best to post a pix of your bands and wood. You may have a No1 band or one for a Mauser. Are there any markings on the bands? All variations of the No4 bands whether milled or strap will fit. Occassionally will run into wood that has not been fit properly. Can you borrow a friends band and try it for fit?

I have TWO different types and sizes of bands for a Lee No1 MkIII.

One of them is a one piece band and the other is "hinged" at the top and is of smaller diameter than the one piece band.

There is also a difference in the wood handguard piece. The wood for the hinged band has been ground out more to allow for the pivot point of the hinge at the top.

Is your barrel band a hinged version or a one piece?

Its a one piece band.
I bought the bands at a gun show and they are supposed to be for a No4. I'm not sure if they are mk1 0r mk2 or if there is any difference. The stock can't really be fitted any more. the middle band maybe a bit but the one closest to the muzzle is going over metal so it can't be modified.
