Dumb question guys, are there blueprints for the Enfield out there? The reason I'm asking is I just picked up a 22LR #1 Enfield (which I’m very happy with) and both the trigger and the rear site wobble on their pins. I guess I could just buy new parts, but I’d like to keep the parts original, you know restore rather than replace.

What I’m thinking of doing is machining out the hole in the trigger and then pressing in or /silver soldering in a new sleeve to make the fit better. Another option I’m thinking of is maybe nickel plating the inside of the hole to reduce the diameter of the hole, then machining /polishing out till the right size. In either case the problem is I don’t know how much of the wear is in the pin and how much is in the hole? Anybody have any idea on the correct sizes or have blueprints?

This question was asked a while ago on a forum specific to the Lee Enfield. No. The originals are owned by Her Majesty. Although even No.4 and 5 rifles went out of production 50 yrs ago, the information is not considered suitable for public disclosure. Some drawings of No.4(T) sniper rifle components have been released virally on the net but not the whole rifle's.

Your only option is to reverse engineer something from a known good example.

sometimes if your lucky a cheep drill bit can be used to make a new pin. buy a cheep set, and you can usually find one that will work. and if you have to drill the parts to make everything the same, just use the next smallest one to drill the holes, and then fit the pins.

I was hoping to avoid making a bigger pin/hole as this would cause problems down the road if I ever need to to swap out the trigger or the pin.

I took another look at thing last night and noticed that the pin fits tightly in the trigger housing, so I'm going to use that as the pin/hole size. I think that should be pretty close. It appears most if not all the wear is in the triggers hole, so I'm going to plate the hole and then polish to size.

In all honesty it would not take much for someone with the knowledge and skills of a good metalsmith, and access to some CNC equipment to reverse engineer these rifles.

I'm pretty sure the patents have run out by now. :D

Diemaco reportedly ended up with all the gauges for the No4, or at least a set of them, from Long Branch. Some trial work was done on building the No4 in stainless steel for the Rangers, as some of them have a cultural inhibition about rifle cleaning/maintenance.

It would be interesting to know how many sets of gauges Long Branch had, as these are the key to production, not sets of drawings.
