Enfield bolt wont lock

I just got an enfield. I took the bolt out to clean the barrel and give it a once over. When I put the bolt back in it wont lock up now. It closes then a second later its flying open.

Anyone have the problem?

Take the bolt out and make sure you have the bolt head screwed all the way in, See if that help's

do you have locking lugs on the bolt?

Some of the early DP (Drill Purpose) guns had one lug shortened so that they do not bear fully.

Are you pulling the trigger as you close the bolt, or are you leaving it cocked under spring tension?

It would certainly fly open then (under spring tension).
