Just a quick question as I work on bedding my rifle.. I read everywhere that cardboard or paper or bristol board or brass shims can be placed on the draws to tighten the stock. My rifle definitely needs this step - I'm just wondering what everyone has used as a glue? Wood glue? Cyanoacrylate glue? 2-part epoxy jb weld type stuff?

I've used epoxy with good results. I clean the wood very very well, and scratch the shims so that the glue holds better; one tip though: careful not to glue the action to the forend...

There are three viscosity's of super glue used to glue wooden RC model aircraft together that work extremely well. The super glue soaks into the wood and welds any shimming material together.
Thin shims can be made from brown paper shopping bags and glued in place with super glue and can be sanded, filed or scraped with a razor blade.
Thicker shims can be made from Formica counter top material and glued with super glue. This is what I normally use and what the armourers used and it was called Aborite shims.
Copper or brass shims can be screwed in place as the Australians did on their Lithgow Enfields.
Armourers would cut out the damaged draws wood and insert new wooden blocks to replace the existing shimming areas and glue and pin in place.
NOTE: Super glue is hot fuel proof on model aircraft meaning it will be impervious to linseed oil and can only be removed with acetone.

Ed, I believe the "super glue" you are referring to is the cyanoacrylate. Comes in a watery or gel like consistency. Mythbusters have used this stuff to hang furniture from ceilings and to lift cars. I have a full selection due to the modeling hobby work I do. Thanks for the shim material tips... I was considering using canadian tire money!
