I recently acquired a Lee Enfield No4 Mk1 rifle. Bayonet lug intact, but other wise sporter/bastard-ized. The barrel is pristine however, it was refinished to a mat black... Probably some South African or Pakistani job if I've done my reading right. Anyways, this sporter is quite nice except for the fact that the front sight was pounded or cut off of it. My question is simple really, does anyone know of a place that will sell me a front sight for an Enfield, or know of an after market sight that will just happen to fit onto it? I don't think I'll be restoring it to "all original" parts, but it'd be nice if it looked like it at a distance.

Thanks in advance.

"...front sight was pounded or cut off of it..." Any chance of a picture? Just the front sight will do. You may need more than just the blade.

No I definitely need more then just the blade. The thing the blade sits in is actually gone. I'll get a picture uploaded once I can find my digital camera.... If I can find it. doubt I will.

Well, let us have a look at the critter...... many of us have picked up bits and pieces of parts over the years, and somebody might just have what you need. I know Numrich is Canada-friendly, but most American places charge an arm and a leg for "handling" and a $9 "service charge" on a $3 part is not much of a service. And, besides, CCRA is anything except "Canadian-friendly"....... and they charge you a $5 "service charge" for stopping your mail, and then have the nerve to charge GST on top of that.
The Constitution definitely forbids the Federal Government from having a direct tax, but they wanted one, so they took it!

Do you have an uncut barrel, full length with bayonet lugs plus about another inch? If so, you need a front sight base, front sight element, the cross pin that pins it to the barrel and the screw that retains the front sight element in place if a Long Branch type base or not if British. You should probably also have the front sight protector and it's screw. Easy enough to install if you know how it goes and have some pin punches and screwdrivers, plus a tool to tighten the front sight element screw.

"...thing the blade sits in is actually gone..." Has it been machined off? Are the lugs on the barrel for the sight base to go onto, there?

I've gone over aforementioned rifle and all lugs are there, but he needs every front sight part, and a rear sight... heck... he needs all the wood too!

Make a list of every part needed, then go to Springfield Sporters website, write down every number of every part needed from the No 4 Mk I page, then call them and order, giving them your credit card number.

What's the black paint? Brit Suncorite or some Pakistani rework dreck?
