Whew...you probably saved OP from all kinds of hassle finding a smith who knew what he was talking about. Too many Larry-Enfield, Gary-Enfield, and Barry-Enfield smiths out there!

OP: What are you looking to have done? Plenty of non-smiths bring beaters to glory.

Ummm? The Lee Enfield is a British designed rifle that has several models differentiated as Numbers and subdivided by Marks. The Enfield is an American term for a Mauser-type rifle also designed by the British that was manufactured in the US by the millions. Chalk and cheese.
