Well, it may not appeal to some of the purists here because it's definitely doesn't fit the normal DCRA profile match rifle.
It's more on the FREESTYLE design and IMHO intended for OFF HAND shooting rather than prone. Hence the very high cheek piece on a custom made butt.
There is a very good chance it was made in a custom shop by a very skilled gunsmith with some special training. I also believe it's either a one off special order or a prototype. The reason for this is the very odd serial number EN X9 0001. Also, the L89A1 is followed by SHOP which would indicate to me it wasn't intended to be sold out of the shop and maybe used as a pattern rifle for that particular shop.
I certainly don't know a lot about these one offs but several years ago the Enfield Pattern Room in England sold off a bunch of the "pattern" rifles they had on hand. Word was some of them were coming to North America. It's possible this rifle came here after that sale or like many of the P35 Inglis pistols walked out unnoticed or maybe just a blind eye was turned so it wouldn't be destroyed.
It's to bad your pics are so fuzzy.
That forestock certainly looks like a modified L39 type. It's to wide for a regular cut down forestock.
Also, I believe that sling isn't original to the rifle. It's just a decent looking standard issue pattern 34? It likely wore an adjustable wide leather sling originally.
What are you planning to do with this rifle???
IMHO it's purpose built for off hand matches. Not many shooters up to that style of competition with such a heavyweight these days. Another indication it's meant for offhand is the five round magazine.
