Hi all,
I got this a little while ago from a friend, I believe it's for a #1 Mk3. Can anyone tell me if the green paint is the kind that they used in the Pacific theater to combat corrosion? What would be the approximate value of this mag?
Many thanks!:D

This is definitely an SMLE magazine (Rifle Number 1 Mark III and III*) magazine.

The double rib on the BACK and the tiny spring are the giveaways on this model. The Number 4 magazine had a single long rib.

What is the Factory marking?

I have seen this type of anticorrosion paint before, but cannot confirm its use for tropical climates.

Anyone familiar with what they were using in New Guinea, Malaya, Viet Nam and Burma?
.

It was a spinach green/brown chromite paint. The Aussies used it on most items going to the middle east. They also soaked Vickers belts in a green anti mold fungicide and rumour is they damned near killed some troops with it.
