Hi all,
I have a sporterized Lee Enfield No4 mk1/2. My father give me this rifle a couple of years ago with 2 magazine. One is the standard 10 rounds but i also have a shorter magazine that can contain 7 rounds. My question is: on what version of the Lee Enfield was the 7 rounds magazine were used.

They did not use 7 round mags with the enfields, at least not that I know. It is most likely a magazine someone cut down to reduce capacity for sporting use. Most of the sporting mags are five rounders to fit flush with the rifle though, don't see why someone would make a 7 rounder.

I am 99.9% sure it's not something a guy just made in it's garage. It is exactly like the 10 rounders but a little shorter. I will post pics later.

I got pictures now. I looked closer and i discovred a marking that say: "Made in Japan expressly for Parker-Hale Limited". Also, The rifle has the barrel cut down by a couple if inches professionally and a Parker-Hale front site installed instead of the usual military one. Also, the rear site is a standard military one but the ghost ring has been remove to make a "V" notch.

It's a commerical 5 shot mag that was used by SanteFe and Parker Hale....made in Japan during late 1960's. They're a little deeper than a cut down 10 shot. If you can get 7 in there the spring is very weak. Ron

Back in the heyday of sporters, they wanted to make the Enfield look more like factory hunting rifles, part of that was a smaller, often flush magazine. I have several types here.
