So, After a year of sourcing parts of my enfield mk2 I got the stock with bands. Now my middle band is just to far apart! My plan was to pick up the last part ( sling swivel) at next years gun show but I need the band to close till then!

How do I get this thing shut? Is their a bigger long screw I can source? I tried clamping it shut but its 1/4 cm to short to reach!

Typically, on a forend that's never been fitted, the middle band channel is too thick for a band to fit. That was done on purpose. Then, when assembly and fitting was done, the channel would be filed so that the band would fit perfectly - i.e., once the band is tight, there is enough free play for the swivel to pivot front / back, but not so much free play (space between the two sides of the band) so that the swivel would move left/right. You need to make sure that you have indeed the right band, though.

You have a used forend and hence need the correct band for your set up. If the handguards are new then you may have to fit. What are the markings on the band? Is it for a No4? Anybody close to you that's familiar with Enfields should be able to help you do the right thing. Ron PS Don't remove wood until you're absolutely sure that's the way to go.....seen a lot of shims under bands where guys thought they could do the fitting themselves!
