I have a 1942 No.4 Mark 1 with a sporterized stock but the rest of the rifle looks original. The serial number starts with an L it is also on the mag. and bolt what is a far asking price for this rifle.
Thanks

If barrel is still in tact and no other mods (such as receiver drilled for example) I would say between $100-$150. That seems to be what most restorable sporters are going for.

If bubba has modified it in such a way it can't be restored (so you can't tell it was bubba'd), $150 maybe... If it's got potential to refurbish, then some guys might pay a couple bucks more.

Cheers
Jay

The only things that will bring it above the 150 mark would be if it has a commercial sporter stock in very good condition. That may add 50 bucks. Other than that, as mentioned above max 150 and down from there. They can be a very nice hunting rifle but not a high dollar value. I have paid as little as $15 for one that had no mag or bolt. So there is your price range.

I have just been corrected it is not a long branch its a 42 Maltby.
Sorry for not getting it right I didn't no.
Price would still be the same. It all depends on how badly someone wants a certain make. Some people would pay a higher price to fill out a collection.
Call your local gun shop and see what they would price it at and remebre, they're always a bit high. There is supposed to be a good gun shop in Vernon but I don't recall the name. I have never seen a #4 recently that was not priced in a store for less than $199. I don't know if they get that though.
