Is there any variation in the amount of barrel protruding from the from of theEnfield No 4 mk 1 ? What is the usual amount in mm or inches (ie: from the back of the bayonet lug to the tip of the barrel?
I am not sure if my barrel has been shortened or not.

Does it have the bayonet lug on it?
If so then from the back of the lug to the tip of the barrel you should have 2 and 5/8ths of an inch.

Just to be clear (for me) the end of the wood hand guard to the tip of the barrel is 2 5/8 " or 66.6 mm ?
There are two sets of lugs. I believe the lug near the tip of barrel is for bayonet while the lug set near the wood is for the sight. Could this be the confusing point?
