Hello all. I have a No 4 that I think has had the rear sight altered (and not very well). I would like to find the version that has the peep sight (almost like a ghost ring) and the flip up ladder peep. It looks to me that the peep or ghost peep has been altered. I am not an authority on Enfields though. Here is what my current sight looks like. It looks to me that the sight (when the ladder is folded down) has been modified by hand to be like an open ‘V’ style. Please advise where in Canada a guy can get the sight I’m looking for. Thanks in advance. Cory

You're right, Bubba fixed your rear sight.

I don't know of any place in Canada that might have what you're looking for at this time.

These folks have what you need, at a fair price and it takes about two weeks to get the part to your mailing address.

Lee Enfield Parts & Militaria.

They're out of the UK and you will have to set up an account. If I can do it online, anyone can.

Very easy to deal with and they will walk you through what you need.

There has been a few done like that here - must be by someone with very young eyes to focus on rear sight so close to eye and then also front sight so far away - rather than learn to use aperture sight. My book here says there were three types of rear sights used on No. 4 Lee Enfield - the kind that you show with the screw, another type with no screw - just a clip to engage notches, and a third type that was flip up - one way was 300 yards, other way was 600 yards - that last type had no ladder. The reference book here - "British Enfield Rifles, Volume 2" by Charles R. Stratton shows 9 variations of rear sights used on various No. 4 - all will interchange, I believe - made or used by at least 6 different rifle factories - the one that you show has approval mark "B" - that might be Fazakerly factory, but I am not sure of that.

These guys have No4 Mk1 sights but seem very pricey: h ttps://collectorssource.ca/parts-and-tools.html?p=3
Numrich in the US also has these sights and they ship to Canada. However, by the time you convert the dollars and add shipping it come to about the same price. h ttps://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/smle/no-4-mki/parts-list-no-4
You could also try E-Bay but it may not be any cheaper either. The time you could pick up these sights for a few dollars is long gone.

The only problem with ordering those sights out of the US will be with the CBSA "work to rule" attitude with every firearms part coming from the US to Canada. Your wait time could be anywhere from a couple of weeks to a year, depending on the whim of the moment.

Paying someone to tig and shape it would cost more than buying a site. Doing it for yourself it’s only your time. It’s something if your bored and want something to do. I have a couple sites cut similar that maybe someday when I run out of spare sites I may consider rebuilding or they will get used for parts.

The battle sight could be repaired by using soft solder to install a repair piece. There is an even easier solution - flip the sight up and use it as is. That way you will also have vertical zeroing capability without changing front sights.

Thanks for all the info. Appreciated. Snider Shooter has allowed me to purchase a rear site from his tickle trunk (thx Snider!). All should be good.
