I have a Mk III adjustable sight for a No 4 , but it is narrower at the base than the old Mk 2 sight or the early Mk 1 sights I have- it looke like the other sights have a wider section on the right side. Am I missing a part ?Spacer) that goes between the sight and the right side where the spring and plunger ride on that side?

.
The Mark III rear sight had a small washer that acted as a spacer to provide the proper width for the sight base. This was corrected in the Mark IV rear sight where the base was made a bit longer, and the sight locking lever was changed slightly so that it did not catch and break easily. However the Canadian Mark III rear sight, (Marked C Mk.III1) was similar to the British Mark IV rear sight with a solid one piece base. As mentioned, these washers are difficult to find, but easy to make.

Came across a whole (small) box of these bushings once on a dealer's stand. Must have been hundreds in there. Easy to make them, so didn't bother.

Thanks Mk VII for the pic. ;) ) My sight is the same as second from the left, marked on back M47 with a broad arrow stamped over the M. BSA Shirley manufacture I assume? I guess I'll just find a suitably thick washer/spacer and make one up. Also, should it be square or round in external shape?

Now that I cleared that up..

Then what would this sight be ? Has 56178 on back upright, 58719 on back top with a line through it. Also has something welded to the inner side ,partially ground off. Does not look like anything for a No 4 Enfield that I've ever seen. Was in the box of spare parts.

Bushing is 0.415" i.d., 0.250" o.d., 0.119" long
Thanks for the info..

Do you mean .0415" ID? Or just slightly larger than the pivot pin diameter? Thanks for the info (thickness and diameter are the critical dimensions)
Anybody need a P'14 rear sight by Eddystone?
