Enfield No4 MK1 Loading Problem

Can anyone tell Me why a NO4 MK1 bolt will not close when it is loading a round, but will when the chamber is empty? I sold the rifle last week, and the new owners are having a rough go with it. Never had a problem before. Thanks for the help and ideas.

cocking piece turned to fired position before closing
mag not seated properly causing jam

Had them check the bolt head but still would not lock up when it picks up a round. Locks up fine when empty. Would it still lock up when empty if the cocking piece was turned?

wrong ammo? seen it happen when someone attempted to chamber 303 Savage. Just a thought

Sounds like someone is using reloaded brass that wasn't properly resized or trimmed.

depends on the rifle, without several good pics your question is not possible to answer. its like this:

"i sold a guy a car, he cant get it to start sometimes, but i never had a problem with it, what is wrong?"

That would be my guess...I reload for No1, No4 and No5 Enfields....Reloads for my No5 will not chamber fully in my No4 when neck sized only...Try different ammo...(plus check for obstructions)
