So last night I was looking at a bit of an oddball enfield, poor thing was sporterized.
receiver has been scrubbed but with some better light I'll take another look, and get it apart.
what it appears to be is a No4 Mk1, I cant get the forestock off but I think it was FTR to the Mk1/2 trigger.
the weird part was the barrel the taper and knox form were a little off. So after a closer look for the normal markings there were none
there is however a Belgian Liege proof mark on one side and the number 52 on the other.
I will need to slug the bore as well, using a 303 round in the muzzle sits out way too far. I'm thinking it is a .308" bore. But it is chambered for 303Brit.
the Bolt is another weird issue, its LongBranch and it has been reheat treated, has a Plumb colour to it and is electropenciled with a serial number on the bolt head and bolt body.
So anyone know if after ww2 if the Belgians rebarrled any of lend lease aid enfields that they received?
