enfield P14 barrel information

Hi. There's more to converting a P14 to either .308 or .30-06 than just changing the barrel. The Pattern 14 was made to use a rimmed cartridge as opposed to a rimless. The bolt face, extractor and mag follower will need work too.
It'd be less fuss to track down and buy a Pattern 17. Essentially the same rifle, but made in .30-06. Epp's is listing a Winchester made, P17, in 'good' condition, for $449.
 
I can offer you Shilen barrel blanks that could be fitted to the P14 action.

You should stay with the magnum family of cartridges as these are easily fit into this action
