Hey

So I am looking for a replacement bolt that attaches my buttstock to the receiver the long skinny bolt. It's for a no5 carbine but looking around online google says a no4 will work too but I just cannot find a place to buy one. Anybody have any ideas ? Kinda dumb that a stupid bolt is holding up my build lol here is a pic I found online of it for reference Thanks for any help

It's just a standard 7/16NC threaded bolt that's has a flat, round head, with a slot cut in it.

You're also going to need the spring washer.

Maybe check with your local gunshop, some of them have bins with such parts just waiting for someone with your needs.

Marstar used to carry them, their site says they're out.

I usually just get a 7/16 #2 bolt of the appropriate length from the local hardware store, grind off the flats and use a hacksaw to cut a slot on the top.

Ordinary flat washers work just as well as spring washers.

Silly question, maybe. The Brits used a standard American thread size here ?

Grizz

No, but both the British and American 7/16 threads use 14 TPI. Using an American bolt is perhaps not optimal, but it’s not exactly a critical thing either, it’s just holding on the stock after all. Personally I would try and find a Socket Cap Screw (or bolt at this size?) and use that instead. Slots and grinding sounds like a pain, and it’s already not original, might as well upgrade it.
