Let's say I came into possession of a lee enfield No. 4 Mk.1 that has been sportarized beyond return. Let's also say its decent in accuracy (1.5 - 2.0 inch at 100yd)

If I wanted to scope such a weapon, what would my options be? Please also tell me where to buy said option as telling me about a good mount is pointless unless I know where to buy it!! :)

I don't have much experience with them but it depends I guess on whether you want to drill/tap or not drill/tap, the Williams base is supposed to be good, and from what I have heard it allows the use of the peep sight. If you don't want to drill and tap usually that means you have to remove the rear sight (no back up sights!) and replace it with the base - in which case you could get something like an S&K base.

The Williams SM-71 will fit the #4 or 5. Check out this link for details:

I have a #4 that I was going to put a scope and bought the SM-71 and rings. I ended up buying a 30-06 and kept the 303 with peep sights as a backup rifle.

I have the new unsed SM-71 base and HCO rings (with original package and instructions) that I got from Brownells. If you are interested in this setup PM me.
