Got my first LE, it is a long branch. The PO believes it was used as a parade rifle. All of the serial numbers were peened over. Other then that it is in nice shape. I would like to change the sight to something a little better for target shooting. The screw adjustable singer Mark1 comes to mind. Are these commonly available? If so how much $$ and where to buy? Also are there other alternatives that aren't too costly?

MKI is elevation adjustable and the best of the military sights. If you want target sights then you're into Parker Hale or AJ Parker.....these are going for big $'s however they do the job.

If you are OK with Brit made ones, they can be had for $25 from several gun parts companies, some here in Canada and some in the US. If you are after a Small Arms Limited (Long Branch) made example, these are not as common and can fetch stupid prices. You may still find them on the EE here for $40 once in a while, but Ebay has been fetching $100 to $200 for them lately.

For target shooting, the PH PH5C sights are good. As RGG mentioned, they will sell for $150-200, but in the end, you can't lose with one. They are not made anymore, and there is no reason to think the price on them would ever come down.

Brit would be fine, where can I find them for 25$

That is another British target sight, but not a Parker Hale 5C. I have seen those before. The biggest difference is the iris aperature. Good to adjust the hole from Barn Door to peep sight, but the clicks are the same.

The rifle looks to be in real good shape. I've purchased parts for my #4 from Numrich. I recently put a scope mount on mine. Just waiting for the snow to leave so that I can hit the rifle range and see what I can make my old girl do.

The ebay version requires the mounting holes in the rear ears to be opened up...once done it's permanent and will devalue the rifle. Once through Customs the Oscar sight will be well over a $100.00. GunParts are now charging "service" so there's no bargain there. Most Canadian suppliers are sold out of the MKI's. I've sold several of these in excessive of $75.00. I wish I could buy these for $25.00.

What looks like a No4 micrometer sight with windage adjustment, IS NOT. The sight was used on a NON ENFIELD .22 training rifle. AS rgg said, buggering he sight mounting hole on a No4 may seem like a good idea at the time, but it lowers the value.
What can be placed on the original milled micrometer sight is the AJP model 8/53 attachment which will give you windage adjustments. The attachment was originaly developed for .22 cadet rifles, but works on a No4 as well, though max range will only be about 600 yds.

Next step up is the Parker-Hale 5c or the twin zero 4/47.or the Twin zero 4/80, But the price goes up quite a bit

In any case they ain't makin them anymore.
Point here is any of the Parker hale sights require NO alteration to the rifle other than exchanging the bits. So if you flog off the rifle for nicer one, you can switch the sights over.
