Trying to identify what the two star shaped stamps appears to be a u inside each star. The rifle is a # 1 mkiii BSA 1939. The receiver is an early receiver with the cut out for mag cutoff. Serial numbers on barrel and action match. What I have found is BSA used these early receivers until they where used up at the start of WW2. Pulling them out of storage trying to build as many rifles as possible.
I haven’t seen the star stamp before and can’t seem to find it on the internet so figured why not ask here.

I was thinking of the Star of David but am looking for confirmation on it. Totally possible it was in Israeli possession. A 98 having the same stamp helps.

I used to know what they meant. My stamps are not that large though. But seen manuals for bayonet fighting using Lee Enfields in Hebrew. So they must have used them.

it looks like a "chet" in Hebrew. in English its would be like a "h" and would be in words like Hannah or challah but its said with a tone English doesn't have its a guttural "ch" sound

They used them in the 1948 Arab war.
