Enfield stock interchangeability ??

I hope this isn't a dumb question but can a stock made for a M 1917 Enfield be made to fit a P 14 Enfield ?
Aside from resemblance are there big differences that would prevent interchanging ?

Not a dumb question at all.

If I recall correctly, the space for the magazine well would be too long, that would be the main obstacle. Going the other way is somewhat easier, fit a P14 stock on a M1917 action; you enlarge the opening for the magazine well. Now this is simply from memory so I could be wrong!

Lou, does that also mean that the bolt spacing will be different also ?

I put a 1917 stock on a P14 rifle. Handguards and all. Perfect fit. No modifications necessary.
