Enfield stock markings

Can anyone help with the markings on the stock of this cav carbine?

Enfield Royal Manufactory cartouche
Canadian Militia & Defense (M&D) stamp
I = Lee Enfield Carbine Mk. 1. A Lee Metford Carbine Mk.1 would have a sling bar on the right face.

Based on the phillips screw and carving, I would not assume the regimental disc is original to the rifle.

i am pretty sure the disk is original. it does not look like it was ever removed just the screw was replaced.
