Planning a new stock build for my Anschutz 1712 and would like your opinion on which style of walnut to get.

Here is a pic of the stock style I am kind of toying with. It is done in English Walnut.

Or, should I get another Claro walnut one. The walnut will be the same or better then the one in the pic below and with a few more options, such as a different checkering pattern.

When you say "English" walnut, are you talking about California English or old world English? If I was buying California wood I would be looking at Bastogne, it has greater strength and density than either Claro or California English walnut. If you can get old world English walnut then go for that.

Are you making the stock yourself or buying it already made? If you are buying it, where? I'd love something along the lines of the Claro Walnut for my CZ's stock.
