Why are 90% of all ithaca's I see engraved?

Seriously, I'm with you on this one. I can't stand the stupid engraving on the receiver, I want to parkerize mine and then use a filler on the engraving and Armacoat the hole damn thing so it looks smooth. As far as I know the smooth sided receivers were only used on the DSPS and M&P lines.

I think it's some kind of roll stamping or similar that was put on all of them.

My first shotgun was an Ithaca 37 Featherlight with a pheasant hunting scene engraved in it. I was kind of partial to it.

I've had three Ithacas so far and they've all had exactly the same scene on them...

Not up-manship here, but I have five Ithacas and one of them has the rollstamp engraving. And yes the other four are either, DSPS or M&P.
