"Enhanced" ACS LAR-15 mags

Anyone know a source? Or similar alternate?

The current ACS mags are flat, above the notch for the mag catch. The "enhanced" ones are proud of the mag wall, both above and below the notch. In talking with ACS, they no longer produce the enhanced mags.

Maybe someone with a XCR-L could chime in if the RA mags have this feature (lip above the notch, not flat).

I'd love to get my hands on some 10 rd pistol mags, but it seems as though that specific little feature of the older ACS mags is now unobtainium.

No, my XCR-L 7.62x39 pistol mags are only proud below the notch, flat above. There may be other versions, but I've not seen them.

Goal - universality between all my x39 rifles. My other option is to machine a new tab into my mag catch on the 858s.

Sure, I can crimp the top area above the notch, (roughly 5 seconds work) but then I have modified a mag, and would be playing on dangerous grounds.

Probably going to work on a tab for the catch, tonight. As it seems that any of the manufacturers I talked to, no longer employ the upper lip, in the mag catch area. A little time milling and grinding, might be my only reasonable choice, at this time.

Update - for conclusion of this thread.

I now have my complete x39 family running a common mag. After talking with ASC about their mags, and learning that my only chance at an "enhanced" mag, was to find someone that had some, I studied what I had to figure my options.

I was able to dissassemble the mag adapter for my CZs, and build up the mag catch tab. First overbuilt, then started filing down, to final shape. Success. I now have drop free 10 round mags for my CZs, also.

This weekend should now be able to include test firing, to see if any feed issues exist. As far as the adapter goes, mags now go in and out, flawlessly drop free, and I am no longer on a quest for unobtanium magazines.

The thought has crossed my mind, and for obvious reasons I did not modify the mags to fit the adapter. Looking forward to the weekend!
